This masterpiece of cartography shows the world of antiquity in one thousand unique individual parts, including one hundred travel symbols.

The world map can be traced back to one of the greatest atlas publishers of the 17th century, Frederik De Wit. In the heyday of his work, around 1670, he created the "nova totius terrarum orbis tabula" - a new map of the entire world. Initially, the large wall map consisted of copperplate engravings laboriously printed on canvas and assembled.
The wooden puzzle, which is based on the map, shows all the continents and oceans under a pattern of longitudes and latitudes on two huge globes, surrounded by lovingly coloured illustrations.
The illustrations deal in part fabulously with the elements earth, water, fire and air as well as peoples, animals and plants of distant lands.
At the top centre a sun shines, surrounded by signs of the zodiac. Below are astronomical diagrams, one geocentric and one Copernican. In the corners are the North and South Poles and celestial images with star maps.
