Frequently Asked Questions
Is it a puzzle or a game?
Both. You're building a game that feels like a mechanical minigame, complete with skills, tactics, a catapult, a bell, and challenges—just without a screen. The automatic ball lift runs via USB-C; the cable and power adapter are not included.
What is special about this model?
A combination of clever mechanics, interactivity, and design: dual controls via a button and gear, ramps, a catapult, and a bell. It looks like a gamepad and feels like a little engineering project—and it’s a lot of fun in the end.
Can two people play this, too?
That's exactly what it's designed for: Who can get their ball to the finish line the fastest? Who will ring the bell first? A project that brings people together—first while building, and then during the competition.
Can I do this even without any experience?
Yes. The Gear Ball Challenge is a Level 4 (Tricky) set with 653 pieces and a build time of 5 to 9 hours. If you take your time and enjoy tinkering, you’ll have no trouble completing it. The illustrated instructions guide you step by step, and there’s also a build video.
Do I need glue or tools?
All 653 pieces snap together; you usually don’t need glue. If you’d like, you can secure individual connections for added stability. The illustrated instructions are included in German, English, French, and other languages. Handy tips for building: Use a utility knife and a file to cleanly remove the parts and smooth out tight spots; use the small hammer to gently tap the snap-fit connections into place so everything sits securely. All three tools are included in our tool set.
What if a part is missing or breaks?
Our spare parts service is free: Just tell us which part you need, and we'll send it to you as soon as possible. Support is available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an average response time of about 30 minutes. Shipped from Berlin · Free shipping on orders of €35 or more.
Function & Mechanics in Detail
Do you love the sound of gears clicking, mechanisms meshing, and building your own level? The Gear Ball Challenge isn’t just a decorative puzzle—it’s a real game for your hands. Precisely laser-cut and cleverly designed: you screw, push, and adjust—and bring a marble run to life that’s a real challenge. Dual controls via a button and gear, ramps, a catapult, and a bell. The automatic ball lift runs on USB-C; everything else is mechanical. Just your brain and heart. And once everything’s up and running? Then the competition begins: Who can get their ball to the finish line the fastest? Who rings the bell first? A project that brings people together—with a finish worth celebrating.
