The book has a three-digit combination lock. Enter the combination on the spine of the book to unlock the secret key. Then insert the key into the slot and turn it counterclockwise to open the mechanism.
Can I change the number combination of the lock?
Yes, you can change the combination at any time: Open the book, remove the notepad, set your desired code, and reinsert the notepad. That way, your secret compartment stays truly personal.
What do I do if I have forgotten the number combination?
Don't worry, there are two ways to do it: You can remove the back panel or figure out the combination by spinning the reels and pressing the lever until you find each correct number.
How difficult is the setup, and how long does it take?
The Book of Secrets consists of 263 pieces and is quite manageable at Level 3 (Intermediate). Plan on spending about 6 hours on it—it's perfect for a few relaxing evenings of crafting.
Do I need glue or tools to put it together?
You don’t need glue—the laser-cut parts simply snap together. If you’d like, you can secure individual connections for added stability. Illustrated step-by-step instructions guide you through the entire assembly process. Handy tips for assembly: Use a utility knife and a file to cleanly cut out the parts and smooth out tight spots; use the small hammer to gently tap the snap-fit connections into place so everything sits securely. All three tools are included in our tool set.
