Batteries are not included; you'll need two AAA batteries for the lights. The kit itself comes with all the parts and instructions. Tools are only included with the Starter Kit version.
How much space does it take up?
When assembled, it measures about 19 x 10 x 24 cm; the longest side is 24 cm. You can place it between books or display it as a standalone decorative piece. Just check beforehand to make sure your shelf has 24 cm of free space.
Where does the electricity for the lighting come from?
The built-in LED lighting runs on two AAA batteries. They are not included in the set; you'll need to provide them yourself. You don't need a nearby outlet.
