We rate this carousel as Level 4 for craft enthusiasts, so it’s not a beginner’s model. The 384 pieces come together to form a clockwork mechanism with gears, so it’s more important to work carefully than to rush. Illustrated instructions in German, English, and other languages are included, along with an assembly video. Plan on spending 2 to 5 hours on this project.

You wind it up, and then it spins while playing a melody. The horses inside run in the opposite direction of the outer stage. The whole thing is powered by winding springs and gear trains.

Glue is not included with the kit; the parts are designed to snap together. For a model with gears, it helps if you can smooth out the edges neatly; we offer a model-building tool set in our accessories section for this purpose. We also sell Magic Craft Glue separately, in case you want to reinforce a joint.
